#Praying4Mum | A Mother’s Connection

I haven’t shared much about my mum on the Let’s do Lunch blog despite my mum being a significant part of my drive, particularly of late, to be successful and make her proud of me. I often share my small triumphs with her, and in turn I’m rewarded with a smile… A reaction I’m always thankful for even if it’s with her eyes, or mustering just a half.

Throwback: Like mother, like daughter – we’re more alike than I realise

In November last year my mum suffered her second stroke, this time with much worse implications than her first, and the recovery time taking much longer than I can remember the first being. The irony that my blog is called ‘Let’s do Lunch’ about creating meaningful connections often with food as a catalyst, and my mum bed-bound with a feeding tube in hospital, isn’t lost on me. The last meal we shared together was four months ago, the length of time she’s been in hospital.

This Mother’s Day I recognise my mum’s sacrifices as she maintains holding on for the sake of me and my sisters, and I know that everyday she continues fighting is Mother’s Day… This is one meaningful connection I have no intension of letting go off, and I’ll continue to be thankful for it… Half smile or not.

Happy Mother’s Day to all 🙌🏾💕
