Sara Shamsavari’s LONDON VEIL\PARIS VEIL\NYC VEIL series, which first premiered at Southbank Centre’s WOW – Women of the World Festival, has gone onto receiving international acclaim. The Veil series highlights young muslim women in major urban cities by documenting and celebrating the expression of their individual identities through their vibrant hijab styles.
“The project is neither a critic nor an advocate of the veil but rather exists to recognise and celebrate its participants as strong, vital individuals who manage to shine, despite the struggles of youth, womanhood and prejudice they may receive as a result of the visibility of their faith.”
During my meeting with Sara Shamsavari, I got a deeper sense as to how the the British-Iranian visual artist and photographer is changing the scope of our society by highlighting social concerns, and providing a platform for awareness and discussion.
In this video Sara extends a personal invite to us all to see her internationally acclaimed exhibition preview of LONDON VEIL\PARIS VEIL\NYC VEIL at LIBRARYSt. Martins Lane, 6PM Monday 2nd November 2015. To book RSVP: bookeeper@lib-rary.com
